Sustainable raw material procurement as a principle

Sustainable raw materials, sustainable production: that is the strategy that is applied when it comes to the production of wood-based VEOCEL™ fibers in order to achieve a high product quality by means of a sustainable value chain.

When producing VEOCEL™ fibers, there is not only talk of sustainability. This is something, which is lived: sustainable raw material procurement is of paramount importance. For processing to VEOCEL™ fibers, fiber pulp is the most important material apart from wood. Each VEOCEL™ fiber is made of fiber pulp which enters production with due consideration to sustainable procurement channels.

In-house production as a guarantee of quality

Around half of the fiber pulp comes from Lenzing itself – from the sites in Lenzing in Austria and Paskov in the Czech Republic. However, the greatest share is already the basis for a new goal: the amount of in-house production is to be raised to 75 percent in the long term. Whatever the Lenzing Group cannot produce itself, is procured only from certified and controlled sources and mostly within the framework of long-term partnerships, since: trust is good but control is a lot better.

Wood from sustainably managed forests

In line with a holistic and sustainable production chain, Lenzing observes strict standards when purchasing wood. At the production site in Austria, mainly beech wood and small amounts of hardwood, which come from sustainably managed forests in Central Europe, are processed.
